FAQs

Where does Nissen Clinic see patients?

We see patients virtually across multiple states and offer house calls and in-person appointments in Austin, TX and Boston, MA.

Please inquire to see if our services are offered in your location.

Does Nissen Clinic take insurance?

We are not in-network with any insurances. However, we can send you an itemized receipt (i.e., a "superbill") for the services provided, which you can submit to your insurance company. Insurance plans that include out-of-network benefits may do partial reimbursement.

If you would like to utilize your out-of-network insurance benefits, please confirm your benefits directly with your insurance provider.

How do you bill?

Fees are due upon completion of the visit. We use GoCardless to process fees. GoCardless is a safe, ACH-based, direct debit payment method. If needed, please inquire about alternative payment methods.

Instructions for making payments will be sent prior to the first session.

How do you manage my medical record?

As a healthcare provider, Dr. Nissen is required to protect the confidentiality of his communications with clients. Clients are guaranteed the protection of confidentiality within the boundaries of the client/provider relationship.

To provide outstanding care, it may be important to contact your other providers. For example, to complete your medical history or coordinate care. We will always obtain your consent before contacting any individual outside Nissen Clinic in regards to your care.

The law provides the following exceptions to confidentiality, but even in these circumstances you will be informed before confidential information is revealed whenever possible:

  • If the provider has knowledge of abuse of a child, elder, or a person with a disability.

  • If the provider has knowledge of intent to harm himself/herself or others.

  • If the provider receives a court order to the contrary.
